Bees Don’t Make Lemonade: The Rundown.

Today marks a month since we took over Moseley Hive for an extended weekend packed full of a variety of Art Events. Here’s a chronological rundown of the weekend’s events in case you missed it!

Thursday 14th October

The Round Lemon team arrived at the venue bright and early on Thursday Morning, excited to meet some of the exhibiting Artists for the Kitchen Gallery Exhibition as they dropped off their work.

As artists dropped in and out of the venue throughout the day, we gave a whistle-stop tour of the exhibition space, before beginning to curate the space during the late afternoon.

We took an experimental approach to curating by placing and fixing the works in an intuitive fashion, seemingly going by the process of ‘making things fit’.

We were also thrilled with our pop-up banners and Window Vinyl stickers made specially for the momentous occasion.

Friday 15th October

With the Kitchen Gallery Private view and Sticker Swap event fast approaching, we had to ensure that cake and refreshments were ready. A selection of Chocolate Fudge Cake, Vanilla Cupcakes and enticing flapjacks were lovingly made by Angela Asbury, and of course we had plenty of lemonade available to hand.

The freshest Lemon station was very popular, with nearly 30 Lemons produced by Children, Adults and exhibition participants! We just couldn’t pick a favourite.

The Private View to our Kitchen Gallery exhibition had an excellent reception, with artists thoroughly enjoying their time In the Kitchen and fridges. With a varied selection of sculpture, prints, paintings, drawings, ceramics and textiles, a lot of different practices were represented in the experimental show.

Saturday 16th October

Saturday afternoon saw an amazing selection of artists selling their work at the Art Market, from amazing Lino prints from Ice and Sea, groovy stickers and postcards from New Grooves Gallery co-founder Eleanor, lots of Zines by Tripleonefive, stunning paintings by Bobbie Whittaker, gorgeous illustrations by Charlotte Jenkins and more.

Sunday 17th October

Following on from a whirlwind of art events, we wound the takeover down on the final day as artists collected their work from the Kitchen Gallery. The last freshest lemon participants contributed their Lemons, as co-founder Bethan was ecstatic to see all of the contributions.

We hoped that you enjoyed this event, and we can’t wait to host our next one in the near future!
